About Us

With a passion for growing and an increasing desire to be amongst nature, Faye Cooper created Wild Ones Cut Flower Company in 2021.

We grow our flowers on a half acre site on the Gower Peninsula, the UK's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Sustainability

Our small scale flower farm allows us the opportunity to embrace nature and ditch the use of pesticides, insecticides or chemical fertilisers which can be so harmful to the environment and its ecosystems.

We prioritise soil health and encourage the crucial bio-diversity that allows nature to do its very best. This ethos runs right through our business from seed to vase, so you won't find any chemical preservatives, toxic floral foam or single use plastic in our floristry either.

We re-use, recycle and compost as much as possible.

We want to share the beauty of Welsh grown flowers with you.

ABOUT FAYE

Faye Cooper (Founder)

"In 2019, my maternity leave had come to an end and it was time for me to decide whether to return to my finance job full time, or remain part time and find a way to make a living out of my real passion, horticulture.

With the support of my fiancé, I took the leap and enrolled onto a course in practical horticulture with the RHS. This was 100% the right decision. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and started to research ways that I could make a career in horticulture work for me and my family.

I stumbled across an army of small scale British flower farmers. Inspired by their gorgeous images of flowery fields and gentle growing techniques, I knew this is what I wanted to do.

I qualified in 2020 and while gaining experience at a market garden growing vegetables for local shops and restaurants, I continued to delve into the world of flower farming. In January 2021 I sowed my first Wild Ones seeds and started growing blooms in my back garden.

Fast forward to 2023 and the market garden where I worked kindly offered me a space to grow flowers. I subsequently joined 'Flowers From The Farm', which is an award-winning membership association championing artisan growers of seasonal, scented, locally grown cut flowers. Their network stretches across the whole of the UK and puts you in touch with flower growers on your doorstep.

I spent much of the summer of  2023 at local farmers' markets where I was blown away by how many customers loved these locally grown flowers as much as me! It cemented my decision to continue to make a go of flower farming and has also spurred me on to complete a 'career change' floristry course with Tallulah Rose Flower School, who teach sustainable floristry methods, choosing to support local growers and use British flowers throughout the growing season. The owner, Rachel, is also a UK ambassador for the Sustainable Floristry Network.

I am loving my journey into flower farming and hope you enjoy the beautiful blooms that Wild Ones and other local growers on Gower and beyond are producing. If you would like to see my story continue, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram or sign up to my newsletter for monthly updates at the farm"
